My Solo Trip to Rome: What It Taught Me

Have you ever had a trip so incredible that leaving felt unreal? That was Rome for me. Two weeks of wandering ancient streets, eating the best pasta of my life, and getting lost in art, history, and culture. But like all good things, the trip had to end, and before I knew it—I was packing my bags, heading for a long journey home to Cebu.

The Long Road Home

Have you ever had one of those exhausting travel days where everything feels like a blur? That was my trip back.

✈️ A long-haul flight with too many layovers
Airport chaos and endless security lines
⛴️ A ferry ride home, because of course, I had to stop and see family first!

It was tiring, but somehow, coming home feels just as much a part of the journey as leaving.

Saying Goodbye to Rome

The last morning in Rome felt surreal. I walked through the cobblestone streets one last time, soaking in every detail—the golden sunrise hitting the old buildings, the smell of fresh espresso from corner cafés. I grabbed one last cappuccino and just stood still for a moment. Ever had a place leave a mark on your heart? Rome did that to me.

The Reality of Travel

Traveling looks glamorous in photos, but let's be real—long-haul flights are not fun.

🛫 Airport waiting times that feel like forever
🌍 Crossing time zones where night never feels like night
😴 Trying to sleep but only getting weird airplane half-naps

But the moment the pilot announced, "We’re beginning our descent," I felt a mix of relief and nostalgia.

Home, But Different

Before heading back to Cebu, I spent a few days in the province—a much-needed reset after the rush of travel. Sitting on the ferry, feeling the salty breeze, watching the water stretch endlessly—it reminded me how important it is to pause and breathe.

Reuniting with family, sharing stories over home-cooked meals, and sleeping in my own bed again? Priceless.

What Travel Teaches You

Every trip changes you in ways you don’t expect. Rome taught me to slow down, appreciate beauty, and be fully present. But coming home? That’s where you see the lessons come to life.

Patience: Travel tests your ability to adapt—delays, layovers, getting lost. ✨ Gratitude: Seeing new places makes you appreciate home in a new way. ✨ Perspective: The world is big and full of adventure, but the people and places that ground you? They matter too.

Would I do it all again? Absolutely. Have you ever had a trip that changed you? I’d love to hear about it!

Why I Take Myself on Solo Dates (And You Should Too)

Why I Take Myself on Solo Dates (And You Should Too)  Have you ever gone out completely alone , just for fun? No obligations, no waiting on anyone else—just you, doing what you love? If not, you should. Why Solo Dates Matter A few years ago, the idea of eating at a restaurant alone or going to the movies by myself seemed… weird. But once I tried it, I realized something— solo dates are underrated. 🍵 Sitting in a café with a good book, no distractions 🎨 Taking a pottery class just because I felt like it 🌊 Watching the sunset at the beach, thinking about nothing at all When was the last time you did something just for you? No schedules, no explanations—just because it makes you happy? The Freedom of Being Alone Sometimes, we feel like we need company to enjoy things. The Weekend Reset: Where I Escape in Cebu

The Weekend Reset: Where I Escape in Cebu By Friday night, I can feel it— tension in my shoulders, my mind running a marathon, my phone buzzing nonstop. The workweek takes a toll, and if I don’t step away, I know I’ll burn out. So, I make it a point to disconnect and recharge. But not all resets look the same. Some weekends, I crave peace. Other times, I need adventure. Here’s how I decide: When I Need a Quiet Escape 🛶 A Slow Morning by the Water – Instead of the usual crowded beaches, I’ve found tiny, hidden coastal spots where I can just sit, breathe, and let the waves do the talking. 📖 A Solo Date at a Book Café – No work emails, no small talk—just me, a strong cup of coffee, and whatever story pulls me in. 🎨 Pottery Therapy – There’s something grounding about shaping clay with my hands —a reminder that slowing down is okay. When I Need an Energy Boost 🚗 Road Trips to the Highlands – A spontaneous drive to Busay or Balamban with good m...
